Opinion: Other FPS “pose no threat” to MW2 on the PS3

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

wallpaper_modern_warfare_2_02Robert Bowling, Community Manager at Infinity Ward (the company responsible for Modern Warfare 2), has told CVG with total confidence (born of success of course) that no other war FPS can overtake Modern Warfare 2’s achievement as the most popular online console game of 2010 to date.

EA’s Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and the soon to come Medal of Honor and much-hyped Call of Duty 7: Black Ops we covered here, Bowling believes none of these games pose any threat to their position. Here’s a quote from Bowling:

“We’ve been number one since launch and [the Stimulus] map pack is going to bring even more people to playing MW2 and extend their play time. I don’t see [the game] slipping any time soon.”

Yes, there’s been lots of exploits, hacks and problems with the multiplayer mode, but the company has done their best to handle the adversity. We’ll see if one of those games manages to overtake the popular MW2 in the future.
